Daddy
Squeeze and the Doctor have been performing together since 1980. They create
a unique sound for the blues, blending Dr.John Walker's percussive finger-picking
and slide guitar with Dan Newton's bluesy accordion squeezins', and topping
it off with a layer of full-throated call-and-answer vocals. Country blues,
rags, hollers, Cajun two-steps and American folk ballads are on the menu
when Daddy Squeeze and the Doctor serve up an evening of musical gumbo,
one that will find a way to appeal to almost anyone's musical taste-buds.
Daddy Squeeze and the Doctor have traveled far and wide selling their homespun music. They have appeared at such diverse venues as the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., a garage in El Dorado, Ks., and bars, coffee houses and private homes from Dallas to Minneapolis, Seattle to Monroe, La.

Daddy Squeeze and the Doctor have three recordings available, with a fourth in the works, due to be released in fall or winter of 2000."Daddy Squeeze & the Doctor" (cassette only) was recorded and released in 1988. "In Your Living Room" (cassette only) was made in 1993, and features an assist from Lee Tedrow and Karl Smelker, the slide-guitar and bass duo of Minnesota Barking Ducks and Swamp Sextet renown. This recording gives the listener a real chance to sit in the middle of a true down-home country blues session, as if it were going on right in your living room.
"Too Sweet to Die" (C D only) was recorded in 1998. This is an intimate journey through traditional and original concepts in blues, gospel and folk music. Highlights include Rabbit Brown's moving "James Alley Blues", Robert Johnson's haunting "Hellhound On My Trail", the rollicking "Pappa Don't Sell It, Don't Give it Away" from the Wampus Cats, and Walker's original song of the road, "Travelin'". Movement is the theme on "Too Sweet to Die", which includes "Wayfarin' Stranger", "The Journey", based on a poem by Mary Oliver, and "Child of God", a song about the journey of the spirit.
